Yum Cha-- Marigold Chinese Cuisine

Yum Cha is a traditional Cantonese food culture that is to sip tea accompanied by dim sum in the morning. Yum Cha is the a word coming from the pronounce of "drinking tea" in Cantonese language.

Dim Sum Total

Dim sum is a wide assortment of savory and sweet dishes in bit size serving. The advantage of this serving size, is you have more chances to try as many types as you can in one meal. Small plates or steamers are filled with different kinds of refined side dishes or cooked wheaten food. Yum Cha has become quite popular around the world.

The first one I'd like to recommend is steamed vermicelli roll. The thin vermicelli is made of rice. Inside the vermicelli, there are shallot, prawns. Serving with soy sauce and sesames, the taste of rice mixed with soy sauce and sesames is very delicious.

This one is called prawn dumpling. Actually it is quite different from normal dumpling we eat. This prawn dumpling's skin is made of rice rather than flour. The inside ingredient is mainly prawn, with some vegetables which can highlight the fresh and sweet taste of prawns. If you are a fan of cooked wheaten food, you must try this one!

This one is my favorite one! This is called steamed BBQ pork bun. The flour is steamed until soft and puffy, and the BBQ pork tastes sweet. As a fan of different buns, this one is the best one to me.

I don't know how to call this one. This is a roll using tofu skin wrapping pork mince and vegetables in it. It is steamed in thin soup so that the flavor of pork is permeated into the tofu skin.

Finally I choose tart as my dessert. This Taiwanese tart is difference from Portuguese egg tart, especially the taste of tart skin. Layers of tart skin is baked until gold. When you bite it, the layers are quite crispy. This is one of my favorite dessert!

There are still many other types dim sum for Yum Cha. You can choose anyone you are interested in or you like. The reason I choose Marigold is because its location is quite close to Chinatown. Actually there are many other Yum Cha restaurants. And I am welcome you guys to introduce to me!!!

Thai food Restaurant--Home

Home is a famous Thai food restaurant on Sussex Street. It is located just behind my apartment. Everyday I come back home, I can see a crowded line in front of the restaurant. People admire the taste and never mind the long waiting time.

It is said that Home is a restaurant run by a Thai and a Chinese. Thus the flavor of their menus are not only include authentic Thai food taste and Chinese food taste, but also developing new taste that combine the essence of Thai food and Chinese food. The combined flavor of new style dishes are also an attractive point for people who like to try new tastes.

This dish is called soft shell crab  with mango salad. The crab is deep fried until just crispy, served with vinegar and mango juice. Sour and sweet taste of vegetables with crispy soft shell crab, it does not taste oily any more, and you don't need to peel the crab.

if you like fish. This steamed barramundi with lime juice is a good choice. The steamed barramundi served with sweetchilli sauce and sliced lime. The fishy smell and taste of barramundi is eliminated by lime, and the fresh taste of fish is still retained. Tendered fish with sweetchilli sauce, it can't be more delicious!!!

When we talk about Thai food, Thai curry is always an unforgettable taste in our memory. This time I tried is green Thai curry. Sliced chicken is cooked just tendered in green curry soup. The mellow taste of green curry is cook into chicken, and you will never feel bothered of the taste!!! If you are a curry lover, you must try this one! You will remember the taste all the time.

Finally I tried chicken coconut soup. The creamy soup tastes  a bit sour and milky flavour. This is my first time trying Thai flavoured coconut soup. It's not like a Chinese dessert that tastes sweet. Thus I felt a bit strange about the taste. But when I tried more, I found I was attracted by this taste. If you are a person who likes trying new flavours, you cannot miss this soup~

Home Thai is a really popular Thai food restaurant. If you like Thai food, or if you want to try Thai food, this is a good place I recommand you to go!

Yunnan Acrooss the Bridge Noodles, corner of George and Goulbourn

Yunnan cuisine or Dian cuisine ,is an amalgam of the cuisines of the Han chineses and other ethnic minorities in China. As the province with the largest number of ethnic minority groups, Yunnan cuisine is vastly varied, and it is difficult to make generalisations. Many Yunnan dishes are quite spicy, and mushrooms are featured prominently. Another important characteristic of Yunnan cuisine is the wide use of flowers as food.

Steam pot chiken- Literally means "steam pot chicken". It consists of chicken steamed with tonics and herbs in a ceramic pot.
Across the Bridge Noodles- Literally means "crossing the bridge noodles" or "across the bridge noodles". It is Yunnan's best known dish. It typically consists of a bowl of boiling chicken soup, to which diners add their own selection of thin meat slices, mixian, vegetables and spices, much like a hotpot. It is ubiquitous throughout the province

Japanese Restaurant -- Takeru

Takeru is a Japanese family restaurant on Sussex Street.

As a fan of Japanese culture, Japanese food is one of my favourite food. And my favourite menu is ramen. The one I ordered in picture is called Kumamoto Tonkotsu Ramen. The soup is cooked of diffrent kinds of pig bones, therefore the soup smells very good, and has a rich taste.

Another one I ordered is Karaake dish set. Karaake is a Japanese word for fried chicken. Chicken skin is deep fried  until crunchy, but the chicken inside is still very tender. Serving with the sauce they made, the chicken tastes so delicious. They also serve you vegetable salad to balance the nutrition of this meal.

Actually the reason for me to choose Takeru, is because it's quite close to my apartment. But it still has nice taste and the price is affordable. The menu includes quite a lot of dishes and meals. You can have a lot of choices.

If you like Japnese food, Takeru is a good choice for you to go!
